The Ironhorse Chapter of the 4th Infantry Division is the chapter that is comprised of and affiliated with the Active-Duty 4ID Members—the Soldiers serving in Fort Hood, Fort Carson, Iraq, Afghanistan, or anywhere else in the world.

The Ironhorse Chapter exists to promote and honor the legacy and history or the 4ID, and to serve its members and veterans.  We foster the spirit of fellowship among past, present, and future members and friends of the 4ID.

OIF Memorial

Our most ambitious project since the War on Terrorism began has been the construction and expansion of the 4ID’s OIF Memorial.  We are proud to have spearheaded the fundraising for both the initial building and the OIF 05-07 addition.

We are currently raising money for our next addition to the Memorial.  This one will honor our Fallen Soldiers from the present OIF rotation.

This addition is estimated to cost almost $200,000.  Our goal is to raise over $100,000 before September 2008.

Scholarship Program

We have a scholarship program for the spouses and children of our Fallen Soldiers from Operation Iraqi Freedom deployments.  We have given four scholarships so far, and are looking for recipients.

In partnership with the Fort Hood Chapter of the Association of the United States Army (AUSA), we secured a $33,000 grant from Houston’s Herzstein Foundation ( http://www.herzsteinfoundation.org ) to be distributed to the Family Readiness Groups for our already-deployed units (1st  BCT, 3rd BCT, and the Division STB).

Gold Star Program

For every Fallen Soldier in the current deployment, the 4ID sends a Gold Star Plaque to the next of kin.  It is an honor for us to pay for these plaques, which are a small token of the Division’s and nation’s appreciation for a Family’s sacrifice.

Smaller Projects & Events

The Chapter has also funded smaller projects and events.  We have sponsored the 4ID Casing Ceremony, 4ID Town Hall Meetings and Community Leaders Luncheons, the 4ID Christmas Tree Lighting, the 4ID Layette Foundation, and FRG Projects.
